The Canmore Folk Music Festival is a 30 year tradition. The only problem was that we arrived in town 3 hours too early, and that we had wrongly assumed that it was a Festival of Friends type of event that was free. Turned out that adult admission was $30, and that people were lined up at the gate to get good seats near the stage. The whole park was cordoned off, so there was really nothing to see or hear. However, the town of Canmore is a beautiful spot, like a mountain town should be. So we just ambled around. I had vowed to find slurpees and finally found the place. Brenda and O. were looking for Harry Potter books, but found nothing. The downtown was especially busy and lively, since today is a holiday weekend, and the weather was excellent. Lots of people from around the country and around the world were in town. You hear all kinds of languages and accents. Recent construction makes the place look almost entirely new. The high school is spiffy wood siding, and the middle school is being rebuilt.
